Welcome to Dana Point

Famously described by 19th-century author Richard Henry Dana, Jr. as “the only romantic spot on the coast,” Dana Point lives up to its reputation. Oceanfront communities including Monarch Beach provide the height of scenic coastal living.

Dana Point: Nautical Beauty Meets Laid-Back Luxury.

Free of the smog that plagues other Southern California towns, picturesque Dana Point is a popular destination for surfers, whale watchers, and beach lovers. Dana Point Harbor offers specialty shopping, fishing and whale watching excursions, kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals, restaurants, and passage to Catalina Island. K-12 students interested in their natural surroundings can stop by the Ocean Institute, which provides science and maritime history programs.

For tasty plates and a glass of wine, visit Craft House with your four-legged friends—the patio is dog-friendly to all shapes and sizes. If you find yourself in need of an oceanfront event venue or simply seek some peaceful pampering, look no further than Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa. And of course, a day spent in the sun at Strands and Doheny State Beach is always relaxing.

Dana Point has a wide variety of neighborhoods to choose from—such as Dana Hills, Del Obispo, and Lantern Village—with properties ranging from condos to grand estates. Regarded as one of the most sought-after communities in the area is the Strand at Dana Point Headlands. Near both the Ritz-Carlton and Monarch Beach Resort, this private oceanfront enclave rests on a six-acre stretch of white sand beach and showcases amazing ocean views.

Monarch Beach: Upscale Beach-Chic Community.

Edged by Salt Creek Beach and overlooking the ocean and Catalina Island in the distance, Monarch Beach is an upscale neighborhood with the casually chic feeling of a luxury resort. Residents and tourists alike take advantage of warm weather and clear white-water views at the Strand Beach picnic area, and surfers gather at nearby Salt Creek Beach.

Monarch Beach is perhaps most well-known for its two premier resorts: the Ritz-Carlton and the St. Regis. The Monarch Beach Resort is also a popular relaxation destination, offering fine dining, spa treatments, and the Monarch Beach Golf Links, an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. These exclusive clubs add to Monarch Beach’s appeal as a luxurious beachside community.

Guard-gated Ritz Cove is a premier neighborhood in Monarch Beach. Neighboring the Ritz-Carlton, this enclave is made up of custom estates that overlook endless beaches and towering cliffs. Homes on the front row of Ritz Cove feature unobstructed coastal views, while the others showcase partial ocean and golf course views.

Capistrano Beach: Charm Along The Coast.

Capistrano Beach—affectionately shortened to “Capo Beach” by the locals—is situated along the California coast on the southern end of Dana Point. It is full of beautiful outdoor spots like Pines Park and Capistrano Beach Park, where surfers flock in the summer when the waves break.

There are many delicious eateries to try in Capo Beach, and one of our favorites is Olamendi’s. Frequented for decades by former president Richard Nixon, Olamendi’s offers a full menu of authentic Mexican cuisine. For Hawaiian-inspired plates and ocean views, head to Sunsets Bar for a bite and a cocktail with an island flair.

Capo Beach homes range from beach cottages to older, more modest properties located off Camino Capistrano to multimillion-dollar estates overlooking Coast Highway and Capistrano Beach Park.
